St. Augustine School
“Following the way, the truth and the life of Christ”
September 1, 2017
It was great seeing all the students as they returned for another school year! There were many new faces including those of children in our newly established Pre-kindergarten age three classroom. This summer we had some construction projects going on to accommodate the new program. There were adjustments made to the two bathrooms on the PreK floor. New faucets were installed that are easier to use and, thanks to Al Noviello, the smaller students can more easily reach those sinks with the new platforms he built in both the boys’ and girls’ rooms. The newly remodeled fifth grade classroom on the second floor also looks great.
With the completion of the changeover of the school uniform, we had a huge pile of the older green pants, shorts, and older versions of the polo shirts and gym uniforms. Thanks to Maryann DiDonato, grandmother of Alice DiDonato, we were able to send the uniforms to students in Haiti through an organization in Massachusetts called the Lavi Project. Students in Haiti cannot attend school unless they have a school uniform to wear. The condition of the uniform did not matter, so we sent all of them. Thank you Maryann for helping us in this most worthwhile project.
Last night was “Back to School Night” at St. Augustine’s. There were two showings of the amazing BMX bike riders. Their tricks were amazing and must have taken a lot of practice to master. Thank you Home & School Association for providing this nice get together and kick off to the school year.
The next two weeks we have our “Class Nights”. Please look at the schedule located on our website http://staugustinesri.com/ at “Class Night” under the parent tab. As always, thank you for all your kind words and support during our first couple days 0f school.
Until next week…
