St. Augustine School
“Following the way, the truth and the life of Christ”
September 29, 2017
Dear St. Augustine Family,
Fruit Hill Fundraiser
Thank you to all who donated to our first major fundraiser of the year that was held this week for the Fruit Hill Day Center for the Elderly in North Providence. The school raised over $1000. This will help the center purchase supplies and programs for the elderly who are taken care of each day at the center. It is great to see our donations helping out local organizations in our community.
On Sunday afternoon, we will be welcoming six principals/teachers, from Catholic schools outside of Rhode Island, to take part in our ten year reaccreditation. They will be visiting until Wednesday. Starting all the way back in January 2015, our teachers and staff have been working diligently on our self-study report. The self study report is our reflection on the program of our school – academics, activities, faith, community, etc.. The accreditation team members coming in have evaluated the report we sent and will now come to see our school in action. They will be conducting interviews with our staff, and may even informally ask students about their experiences at our school.
I would like to especially thank Mrs. Phillips and Ms. Buote who have served as our co-chairs during the process, the teachers and staff for their hard work, and also your input through your surveys last fall. Even though there is a sense of anxiety anytime someone evaluates a school, we are confident in what we provide to our school community. This especially is revealed when we see how our students are successful in academics and extracurricular activities. It is also apparent in the moral, polite, and hard working students they become before they leave for high school.
Until next week…
Mr. Andrew Brassard
