“Following the way, the truth and the life of Christ”
October 13, 2017
Dear St. Augustine Family,
Breast Cancer Fundraiser
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. Many of us have had a mom, sister, an aunt, or friend who has been treated for breast cancer. With our fundraising efforts during our dress down today, we have raised over $900 to assist the cause, but also to raise awareness about the early detection of the disease.
Father Forcier ended the week by leading all the students and staff in praying the rosary while surrounding the Mary statue in the back parking lot. It was a nice way to not only honor Mary our Mother, but also to tie in with the breast cancer fundraiser and pray for those mothers who fight through this disease each day.
Next week, we will hold our Fall book fair on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, during the day and also a Wednesday night book fair from 6:00-7:30pm. Encouraging students to read helps develop their language skills, build their imagination, and understand the world to greater lengths. At home, encourage your child to put down the technology and open a good book. I think you will notice the benefits as they journey through their educational careers.
Until next week…
Mr. Andrew Brassard
